Wigton training lab offers course on energy audits

The Wigton Renewable Energy Training Lab is offering an intensive renewable energy training course, covering Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, Solar Water Heaters and Energy Audits from May 14 to 18.

The omnibus curriculum combines critical elements of dedicated courses on PV systems and solar water heaters, previously taught at the Rose Hill, Manchester training facility, with an overview of audits; a necessary precursor to any energy efficiency or renewable energy project.

The topics to be covered include the designing, sizing and installation of PV systems and solar water heaters, system types and components, measuring system efficiency as well as the rudiments of conducting energy audits and site assessments.

The training will be delivered through lectures and in-class sessions as well as practical exercises utilising both the lab’s equipment such as the solar trainer and its working renewable energy systems including the operational PV system and solar water heater which serve the facility.

“We have previously run three-day courses which dealt exclusively with critical areas of renewable energy and now we’re offering a longer course where participants will be able to learn about Solar Photovoltaic Systems, Solar Water Heaters and Energy Audits in one engagement and this approach will offer great value for both time and money,” Wigton Windfarm’s General Manager, Earl Barrett explained.
