IDEAS 2012 is a collaborative programme between DFID Caribbean, GVEP International and the Inter- American Development Bank. It will provide grant financing and business development support to energy  entrepreneurs with a renewable energy and/or energy efficiency focus across the Caribbean. Our client is GVEP International, the UK-based NGO providing project implementation on behalf of DFID Caribbean. They are seeking a dynamic project manager to coordinate and manage the successful
delivery of the programme. The project manager will need to be stationed in the Caribbean and must be available to start working on the 1st January 2012.

The Role Reporting to the Head of Programmes in London, responsibilities include:
Establishing and managing the project office,

Being the central communication point between the UK office and stakeholders.

Publicising the competition across the Caribbean to attract high quality contestants .

Managing the application and  evaluation process as well as finalising grant agreements for the winners.
Technical and business development assistance and performance monitoring over a 2 year period.

Publicising achievements of the post-award phase .

Progress reporting to the principals.

The Profile

Preferably a degree in business or a related field; proven knowledge of the Caribbean business environment, ideally in renewable energy .

Demonstrated project management experience.

Experience in business plan/investment analysis

Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
A strong communicator, comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment, with the ability to build a network of outstanding relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Travel is required (up to 60%) and the role is likely to be based in either Barbados or Jamaica.

Languages: excellent English essential, good proficiency in Spanish an advantage, proficiency in French may be helpful.
