UTech Enters Energy Innovation Contest

On Monday, April 30, 2012, UTech entered the “IDEAS Energy Innovation Contest in Renewable Energy”.

The contest is funded by UKAid from the Department for International Development DFID), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the South Korean Government, and the Global Village Energy Partnership (GVEP).

The contest aims to find new solutions to the energy problems facing countries of the Caribbean, and will reward innovative ideas aimed at increasing energy efficiency, access to renewable energies, climate change mitigation and fossil fuel substitution.

Winning projects will receive US$200,000 for implementation.

UTech’s project team comprises Professor Homero Silva-Serrano (Project Leader), School of Public Health & Health Technology; Dr. Ruth Potopsingh, School of Graduate Studies, Research & Entrepreneurship; Dr. Debbie-Ann Gordon-Smith, Faculty of Science & Sport; and Dr. Earle Wilson, Faculty of Engineering & Computing.
