UPGRADING INFORMATION SYSTEMS SO THEY MEET THE MEMBER COUNTRIES NEEDS – MANAGEMENT REPORT 2008-2010

In order to fulfill the second objective of the Triennial Plan which makes reference to the management of OLADE’s information systems, the following activities were undertaken:

  • V3.0, was developed and made available to all Member Countries, and implemented in six of them (Jamaica, Barbados, Paraguay, Uruguay, Salvador, Bolivia).
  • We are currently working on updating the planning tool V6.0, which is expected to be completed in 2011. As of now version 5.1 is used in 12 Member Countries and two international consulting firms.
  • The first phases of the project were successfully launched. 16 countries signed as counterpart and 21 participated in the diagnosis of the software component design.
  • IT infrastructure was improved: implementation of the LINUX platform (free software), installation of fiber optics, expansion of bandwidth, investment in new hardware, implementation of security measures and protection of information, and adaptation of four meeting rooms with computers, wireless, videos, projectors and audio system.
  • In this regard, two tools were implemented namely: ORFEO, a free software document management tool and ISOLADE, electronic tool created expressly to administer the Quality Management System.
