STARR Computers – leaders in energy saving computers and renewable energy

STARR Computers Inc. (STARR) has taken up the challenge in Guyana to promote Alternative Energy and to play its part in helping to save the earth and create new employment opportunities. This is one of the entities that is controlling a booth at GuyExpo.
It is into computers and alternative energy. The technology company has been in existence for the past 20 years and has partnered with a group of international manufacturers and engineers, and, local financial Institution to find ways and means to make renewable energy affordable, reliable and safe for all in Guyana.

President of STARR computers Michael Mohan displays some of the solar solutions at the GuyExpo.

STARR had already taken the initiative of powering itself from Renewable Energy using a hybrid system consisting of Wind and Sun application.
Michael Mohan, the President of STARR computers is based in the US. He said that renewable energy is reliable, clean, and safe. While its upfront capital cost may be considered high, a cost benefit analysis has shown that the investment can be recovered from savings over five years of use in Guyana.
Mohan revealed that STARR has been working on solar air-conditioning units which will be brought on stream next year, hopefully, since it is in its developmental stages, however, the testing phase would be done internally before these hit the markets.
He explained the greatest challenge today is Climate Change – created primarily from the excess use of fossil fuel. And, the best opportunity societies have to conquer this is by harnessing the future power from renewable energy; some of the more popular options are wind turbines, solar panels, hydroelectric, and geothermal which are the best sources of alternative energy.
Adding that solar energy is the most practical and economical application to employ, the President of STARR computers said that solar energy harnessing helps save on monthly utility bills, reduces carbon footprint, protect the environment, and, “empower us for our next career path.”
“Electricity use will continue to rise and production cost will escalate on an annual basis, while survival will become unbearable if we continue to depend on fossil fuel. And eventually Guyana will face the threat of joining many other nations in the struggle to survive in a hostile climate rebellion, “ Mohan said.
“We hold the key at this precise time in history to make a difference for our future generation by turning towards Alternative Energy – simply by harnessing photons from sunlight to generate Solar Energy.”
Through an ongoing programme in Guyana, STARR offers free educational seminars and field trips to the public at its main branch at 59 Brickdam, Georgetown. The free seminar includes 45-minutes of presentation in its training room to facilitate 40 students or 30 adults.
A field trip to its Solar Showroom, and, it’s Roof Garden for a demonstration of its Wind Turbine and Sun-tracking Solar Panel installation are on offer.
Adding that there is an assembly plant for the setting up of computers at STARR, Mohan disclosed that more than 100 computers can be produced per day. One of the goals of the company is to eventually offer some of the students that participate in the various seminars “short stints in the assembly of computers…which could lead some to become technicians…That is one of the many ways we are giving back to the community.”
It was further disclosed that all of STARR computers are energy saving computers. There are other energy conservative devices, one being the solar solution which powers the computer.
STARR Computers has been in the forefront of providing free regular seminars in Renewable Energy and low priced Xfinity Computers to the Guyanese people.
STARR Computer has been successfully harnessing over 50 per cent of its electricity from the sun and wind over the past four years. This hybrid system is designed with maximum efficiency using a specially engineered sun tracking device, and, an efficient positioned wind turbine that harness energy and stores it in a carefully ventilated high capacity battery bank.
The tech company revealed that it has three solar models on the market that are tailored to power-up its Xfinity Computers, Surveillance Solutions and Computer Networks.
