OUR receives 17 Bids For Renewable Energy Generation
Kingston, Jamaica — The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) on Wednesday January 27, says it received 17 bids from ten entities wanting to set up electricity generation projects from renewable energy sources to contribute up to37 megawatts (MW) to the national grid.
The submissions were opened at the OUR offices following the international issue of requests for proposals on July 31, 2015, the agency said in a release.
The successful projects will operate on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis. Entities were allowed to submit proposals for the supply of one or more plants of varying configurations greater than 100 kilowatts (KW) and up to 37 MW (Net) of renewable energy-based electricity generation, the OUR said.
In the lead-up to the submission of the proposals, great interest was shown by potential investors who attended the pre-bid meeting in Kingston last August.
The evaluation of the bids is expected to be completed by April 26 this year.
