Opening of the OLADE-Caribbean Sub-regional Office

The Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American Energy Organization, OLADE launched the Caribbean Sub-regional Office in Kingston Harbour, Jamaica, on August 14, 2012, by a solemn ceremony held in the Auditorium of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica which was attended by HE Mr. Phillip Paulwell, Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining of Jamaica, Mrs. Hillary Alexander, Permanent Secretary of that Ministry, other government authorities of that country and diplomatic representatives of member countries accredited to Jamaica. The delegate of the Executive Secretary, Director of Integration and Coordinator, Fernando Ferreira, and the OLADE – Central American Sub-regional Office Coordinator, Jorge Asturias represented the Permanent Secretary in such an important event for the Organization and the Caribbean. They also participated in signing the Memorandum of Understanding between OLADE and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mines, regarding the operation of the Office in the Host Country.


It was also announced that Mr. Conroy Watson, has been hired as a consultant in charge of the OLADE – Caribbean Sub-regional Office. We will latter inform of contact coordinates.

We emphasize the importance of opening this OLADE – Caribbean Sub-regional Office in the process of sub-regionalization of the work programs of the Permanent Secretariat, as mandated by the Ministers of OLADE. Likewise, we thank the Government of Jamaica on his commitment to providing vital support to the Office as its Host Country.
