Official launch of NEMO Solar Energy System Set For Tomorrow
Press Release – The National Emergency Office (NEMO) Headquarters is now fully equipped to generate electricity from a renewable source, thus equipping this essential agency to maintain its operations in the event of power outages.
The Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology has installed a twenty-five kilowatt (25 kW) system at NEMO.
This development was made possible through funding from the Republic of China/Taiwan under the Sustainable Energy from Concept to Action Project, as part of the Solar Initiative Component
Government remains consistent in its mandate of promoting the use of renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency in Saint Lucia.
Moreover, the use of photovoltaic (PV) technology is increasing in Saint Lucia and the time is opportune for great dissemination of the technology particularly on public buildings.
The official commissioning and launching of the Solar PV System at NEMO is scheduled for February 26th, 2016, at the grounds of the NEMO building, Bisee, Castries from 9:30a.m.
Energy Minister Sen. Hon. Dr James Fletcher and other high level government officials will be on hand for the official launching.
