Latin America and Caribbean Innovation Contest Launch

The launch of the Latin America and Caribbean innovation Contest was sponsored by GVEP international Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the German Technical Corporation (GTZ) and the Korean Trust Fund for Innovation. This competition is supported by Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Energy Programme and endorsed by the Inventors/ innovators Association headquartered at the Scientific Research Council, Jamaica.

Engaging discussions at the head table.

The objective of the contest is to identify innovative projects and/or project ideas that have a potential to contribute to the development of Renewable Energy, energy efficiency and energy access. The selected projects will receive support in the implementation and/ or scaling up process via financial assistance, technical assistance and development support.

Given the significant work done by the Scientific Research Council in Jamaica in encouraging via inter alia, the Annual Inventors/Innovators Competition, the Minister’s Innovation Awards and the national Quality and Innovation Awards, it is expected that this competition will enhance these on-going efforts and provide additional opportunities for new and existing ideas and innovations to be further advanced, developed or scaled-up.
