JPS signs PPA with US-owned company for renewable energy

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is to sign a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with US-owned Blue Mountain Renewables (BMR) Wind Jamaica Limited on Wednesday, June 25.

The signing is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm at the JPS Head Office in Kingston and will formalize the purchase of energy from the new facility to be built.

JPS said in an advisory today that the partnership with BMR is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to fuel diversification and the addition of more renewables to the grid.

The power company also noted that background wind data based on their existing operations at Munro Wind Farm has already been provided to BMR.
