Iceland to help with energy plans

A memorandum of understanding was signed in March 2008 at the Hilton Hotel between the Governments of Barbados and Iceland, which aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, Christopher Sinckler, explained that several islands in the region have already been exploring alternative energy sources such as solar, which Barbados has had some success with throughout the years, and bio-fuel; and it is in this area that Iceland’s experience would be beneficial.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland, Ingibjorg Gisladottir stated that Iceland would be happy to share their expertise and natural resources in a sustainable way through such initiatives as hydropower and renewable energy.
