Guyana to benefit from 600M financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects from IDB and JICA

Guyana is among several countries to receive up to 600 million dollar in financing for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects from the Inter-American development bank and the Japan International cooperation agency (JICA).

JICA senior special advisor Hiroto Arakawa noted that the two regions are at the core of JICA’s agenda to address global climate change.

The money will be used to finance a facility, which could potentially mobilize another 300 million from the IDB’s own resources.

All projects will be processed, approved and executed in accordance with the IDB’s guaranteed loan policies and procedures in the case of joint co-financing.

The financing will benefit IDB member countries including Belize, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Suriname among others.
