Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Renewable Energy

The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation will be co-ordinating a symposium with the theme Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Renewable Energy within the context of Barbados’ Industrial Policy to be held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Friday, March 5, 2010.

The purpose of this symposium is to educate participants on the relationship between entrepreneurship, Innovation and Renewable energy as well as to encourage the use of renewable energy within the Industrial sector.

The feature address will be made by Dr. David Estwick, Minister of Economic Affairs, Empowerment, Innovation, Trade Industry and Commerce.

The morning session will have speakers which include Dr. Roland Clarke, of Clarke Energy Associates, Mr. Lennox Chandler, National Council for Science and Technology and Mr. Mark Hill of Innogen Technologies as they tackle such topics of interest as innovation and standards and renewable energy and the Industrial Sector.

Afternoon speakers include Dr. Leonard Nurse of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus, Mr. Erwin Edwards from Atom Solutions Inc and Mr. William Hinds, Ministry of Finance, Investment, Telecommunications and Energy.

There will be two panel discussions: one in the morning session and one in the afternoon. Also provided will be a discussion and proposed action plan.

Those attending this Friday’s symposium are expected to gain a greater awareness of the subject matter.
