Energy Program Strengthens Cuba-Canada Cooperation, Says Ambassador Levin

Matthew Levin, Canada’s ambassador to Cuba, pointed out that the cooperation project carried out to make the island’s wind atlas strengthens bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

During a tour of the exhibition areas of the 12th World Conference on Wind Energy that wound up on Wednesday at Havana’s Convention Center, Levin asserted that its results will boost Cuban programs to implement the use of renewable energy sources.
Alfredo Roque, a researcher with the Center of Physics of the Atmosphere of the Meteorology Institute, told the press that the initiative favored the transfer of advanced technology to measure wind.
Research work also made it possible to identify, with more accuracy, ideal areas for the future construction of new windfarms, like the one being built at Herradura beach, eastern Las Tunas province.(ACN)
