Energy Awareness Week Launched

Public education is regarded as extremely important to positively influencing public perceptions about renewable energy and energy efficiency.

It is the foundation upon which the annual energy awareness week events are built. Environmental Engineer in the Energy Ministry Charlin Bodley says for 2014, Saint Lucia will host a month-long energy awareness observance.

Bodley says the annual observance is important as the Ministry continues on its campaign to educate the public on energy issues.

She says the Energy Ministry is committed to promoting sustainable energy development through the use of renewable energy technologies and adherence to energy conservation principles.

As part of energy saving week 2014, the energy ministry is hoping that local businesses and consumers will benefit from its first-ever private sector energy fair.

The event is geared at exposing members of the public to the many energy efficient products and services which are available locally and the opportunities for significant financial savings from investments in renewable energy.

It is scheduled Saturday November 15th at the Mega J Car Park from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be held under the theme “Sustainable Energy for Economic Prosperity – We’ve got the Power.”
