Energy: Angola, Cuba to reinforce energy cooperation

 

Energy cooperation Angola, Cuba – The Angolan Energy Secretary of State, Joaquim Ventura, Wednesday began a working visit to Cuba, aimed at reinforcing the cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, PANA learnt from a communiqué issued Thursday by the Angolan Energy and Water ministry.

 

According to the communiqué, Ventura has already met with the Cuban Minister of Energy and Mining, Alfredo Lopez, with whom he discussed the existing agreement between the two States on energy.

 

The Angolan official also unveiled his country’s Action Plan in the field of electricity,  highlighting the urgent need for Angola to reinforce its infrastructures and increase the country’s energy production from 1GW to 9GW by 2025.

 

The Angolan delegation also expressed the determination of the African country to increase the production of renewable energies and improve access to electricity to 50-60 percent of its population by 2025.

 

The delegation later visited Cuba’s energy infrastructures, including the thermo-electric station of Maximo Gomez which has a capacity for 18.4MW.

 

Cuban experts are currently in Angola to train Angolan technicians in the regions where new thermal stations will be located.
