Cuba Hosts International Workshop on Wind Energy

Engineers, researchers and academics dedicated to the development of wind energy from around the world will confer on the latest news on this renewable source, at an international workshop from June 1 to 3.

Wind energy in Cuba is considered by specialists the renewable source of greatest growth in recent years since its establishment in 2007.

“Channeling the Wind” is the central theme of the meeting, which will address among other issues the Cuban experience in the implementation of this technology, the assessment of the potential, the energy quality, and the current projects of wind parks on the island.

Connections to the mains, the importance of water systems, and the design of wind-driven generators are other themes to be discussed.

The workshop will take place as part of the Seventh International Conference on Renewable Energy, Energy Saving and Energy Education CIER 2011, attended by experts from some 15 countries of all latitudes.

Latin America participates with researchers from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela and Cuba.

Europe will be present with engineers from Spain, Italy, Germany and Great Britain and also the Iranian experience in this field of science will be known.

Relevant global institutions like the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) and the Latin American Association, represented by the group from Argentina and Venezuela, are sponsoring the event.
