Caribbean Energies Group Announces Launch of 24MW Solar Energy Operations & Distribution “SEOD” Project in Jamaica

Caribbean Energies Group Ltd. was invited to a meeting with the Ministry of Energy on March 5, 2012 to discuss efforts to help Jamaica improve its energy economy.

Discussing the project Identified as “Solar Energy Operations & Distribution” or SEOD, the meeting was received as positive by the Minister of State the Honorable Julian Robinson. This meeting was centered on energy finance and gauging the risk and feasibility of such a project endeavor in Jamaica.

“We are now finalizing our financing commitment to this project and have now finalized our OEM partnerships with Solar manufacturers and EPC contractors”.

The project statement of work is now defined to manage the execution of the planned design/build features of our 24MW Solar Power Park (or SPP) which will be a first for the country said R.J. McIntosh, Group Chairman. “Our focus is to begin construction 3Q2012 at a pre-selected site located in Paradise Park, Westmoreland”.

“Renewable Technology in America has advanced and along with it attractive lending programs that help support transmission and distribution rates that we propose implementing as a part of our strategic planning. We are a Jamaica company and this defines our purpose in becoming the country’s first Solar Independent Power Provider (IPP).

McIntosh said the Caribbean Energies Group was first formed 4 years ago as a long-term plan, which will require further in-depth technical analysis, but the company wanted to begin building specific stretches for supply Solar power to the grid during the first 1 year project period.

“This is a feasible proposition that we plan to develop in stages while determining the final configuration of our energy multiplex,” McIntosh said. “We are looking forward to executing on our program plans and providing Solar Energy to the island by reeping the rewards from the Caribbean Sun.”
