British grant Wigton £27,000

WIGTON Windfarm Ltd in Rose Hill, Manchester is to sign a £27,000 contract with the British High Commission tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, 2014 for the installation of solar and wind equipment on the roof of its renewable energy lab.

The resulting solar roof will demonstrate how photovoltaic equipment can be integrated into building design and will stand as a working model for training students in the field.

The Wigton training lab will enable capacity building in the development and use of renewable energy through seminars, lectures and practical demonstrations for the general public, energy professionals, and tertiary students in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

British High Commissioner His Excellency David Fitton and chairman of Wigton Windfarm Ian Kelly are expected to sign the documents. Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Phillip Paulwell is also expected to attend.
