Biden says Washington will help with renewable energy

At the end of his visit to the National Palace Thursday, U.S. vice president Joe Biden went to the town of Haina to learn about a solar power project developed by the shipping company Maritima Dominicana.


Biden’s 25-vehicle motorcade headed to Haina shortly after 4:30pm, as dozens of onlookers waited on both sides of the road.


U.S. ambassador James Brewster  Maritima Dominicana president Gustavo Tavares and  Biden toured the company’s power project along with Biden, who announced an initiatives to help the Caribbean produce renewable energy.


He said among the initiatives figure pilot plans, and “the Dominican Republic is a good place for one of them.”
